salutation
the world awakening cries
its joyous glad refrain,
first light holds one surprise,
abed too long we've lain.
prime time to start the day,
the early bird confirms,
a modest price to pay
for last night's juicy worms.
yet, some would have their tea
at ten, yawning good morns,
rising leisurely free
of what duty adorns,
missing the daybreak sight
as dawn adieus the night.
it is as if the sun
itself, lord and master
be, coming as the one
holding fates, disaster
or well-done, in his hands,
to mete out, to us all,
justice for his commands,
at this our curtain call.
we are all adither,
scurrying here and there,
facing His call thither
to answer when and where.
anticipation high,
to work! He's drawing nigh.
were we to look around
us, as Nature salutes
the day, cases abound
only the dolt refutes,
of passion for the new,
as if it were the first
to be, the time to do
all plans the mind rehearsed.
focused on chosen tasks,
a joyous song within,
a smile to break our masks,
conjoining dawning's din,
as Nature takes the lead
design turns into deed.
