Three parts to this interesting piece----1----death as a natural fact 2---the writing and not-writing as a young poet 3----the poems/pictures that leave our mark on the world.

Saying the poem is interesting----and it is----doesn't capture the truths of the insights here. In the course of many of your poems there are always points or images that strike the heart.

I wonder if you will sound in this morning's poem as you did in this one like Chief Inspector Barnaby in Midsomer Murders which I can't tear myself away from.

and that their constant
search
for the new is mostly
about trying to find a new
more interesting self
and since I find my old self
quite interesting and
engaging
a search for new experience
is not something I do much of
anymore...

BUT you have such lovely roads...smooth as china silk (words from a Sting song).
On yahoo tday they had the rest of the world lust over the ten most panoramic
...

I share your irritation. this is clearly amongst the most horrible things on earth.

I like your observations and thoughts about "the church of the latter day punk" . Good poem. Much better (perhaps) than the slow poem originally hitting the road that morning. I like your sharp imagery and reflective thinking.
